2 EVENTS HIGHLIGHTING BRUSSELS CLUBBING LEGACY TO BE HELD DURING THE HERITAGE DAYS

On the occasion of the “Heritage Days” organized by urban.brussels on September 14th and 15th, Brussels by Night is presenting a special program dedicated to highlighting the vibrant culture of Brussels clubbing scene.

Recognized as part of the intangible cultural heritage of the Brussels-Capital Region since a year, the clubbing culture has played a crucial role in shaping the cultural identity of the city. This living and ever-evolving heritage continues to reflect the creative diversity and allure of Brussels' nightlife. However, despite its significance, the sustainability of the venues and the community that supports this scene faces increasing challenges.

To prevent a cultural, social, and economic decline of the Region, the implementation of concrete protective measures has never been more important.

Brussels by Night is proud to announce two events:

  • Saturday, September 14th at 3:00 PM - Nightlife Creativity in the 80’s: Join us for an exclusive screening of the documentary Mirano 80, l’espace d’un rêve at the iconic Mirano club, marking the first time this film has been shown within the venue itself. The documentary offers a compelling exploration of the 1980s, showcasing the profound influence this club, established in March 1981, had on shaping Brussels' nightlife culture.

  • Sunday, September 15th at 4:00 PM - A panel discussion titled "How to Protect Brussels' Clubbing Culture," divided into two parts. The first part will gather experts in club culture to discuss its role in the city's cultural identity and history. The second will focus on dialogue with policymakers to explore strategies for safeguarding this cultural heritage and enhancing the appeal of Brussels' nightlife.

These events are open to all, whether you are an industry professional, a nightlife enthusiast, or simply curious to learn more about this unique aspect of Brussels' cultural scene. The issues discussed during these events are not confined to insiders—they are relevant to all Brussels residents, as the clubbing culture is a vital component of the city's identity and social life.

These events are organized in partnership with Fuse, Mirano, urban.brussels, and the Brussels Night Council as part of the Heritage Days 2024.
