Launch of Petite Suisse/Klein Zwitserland project in Ixelles

  • Brussels by Night
  • 5 juin
  • 1 min de lecture

With the goal of turning the Petite Suisse neighbourhood into a safer, more inclusive neighbourhood — and a model for awareness and training on these issues — Brussels By Night has recently started connecting with partner associations and local structures to help prevent sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) and incivility in the area.

So, what’s on the agenda?

  • Raise awareness among nightlife audiences, students, and frontline actors about gender issues and sexual violence in festive spaces.

  • Conduct a field study — in collaboration with CityTools — tailored to the neighbourhood and those who bring it to life.

  • Support the horeca and student sectors in developing tools and actions to prevent SGBV and foster safer spaces.

  • Provide training to nightlife venues and organisers (including student circles) on prevention and victim support.

  • Improve safety and tranquility through strategies such as better lighting, increased visibility, and enhanced communication tools.

  • Promote respectful and civic-minded behaviour in public spaces by addressing everyday nuisances such as noise, littering, and other forms of disruptive conduct.

📣 Got actions or needs related to this area? Don’t hesitate to reach out — we’d love to connect !

Project initiated by the Mayor, Romain de Reusme, and the Deputy Mayor for Urban Renewal, Nevruz Unal, - Neighbourhood Contracts and members of the College of Mayors and Deputy Mayors of Ixelles. With the support of the Brussels-Capital Region.
